The integration of mineral resource assets is driving the trend toward larger-scale mining machinery.

To fundamentally address the issues of unreasonable mine development layouts, extensive and wasteful mineral resource extraction, and environmental damage, the Ministry of Natural Resources and eleven other departments have issued the “Notice on Further Promoting the Integration of Mineral Resource Development” to further advance the integration of mineral resource development. The Notice requires that, by the end of 2010, all integration tasks be fully completed in accordance with the approved implementation plans for further integration, relevant systems for mineral resource management be established and improved, and a preliminary long-term mechanism for the exploration, development, and utilization of mineral resources be put in place.

  As required by the “Notice,” China will gradually intensify its efforts to integrate mineral resources in 2010, encouraging and promoting large-scale mining production and intensive operations. The goal is to foster “integrated exploration, mining, and smelting” mining groups, and gradually establish a new pattern of mineral development characterized by large mining conglomerates as the backbone and coordinated development of various types of mines.
  The Notice points out that the objectives and tasks for the integration of mineral resource development are as follows: further optimize the layout of mineral resource exploration; further enhance the scale and intensification of mineral resource exploration and development; further improve mine safety production conditions and the ecological environment; and preliminarily establish a long-term mechanism for the rational exploration, development, and utilization of mineral resources. The basic principles for integrating mineral resource development are: further promoting coordination between integration and industrial structure adjustment; ensuring seamless connection between mineral resource exploration and development; achieving unity between resource benefits, environmental benefits, and safe production; and combining government guidance with market-oriented operations.
  Of course, as mineral resources enter a new round of consolidation, this not only enhances the intensive development of China’s mineral resources but also provides significant impetus for the development of China’s mining machinery. Further integration of mineral resources can promote the trend toward larger-scale mining machinery, laying the groundwork for elevating China’s overall manufacturing level in the mining machinery sector.
  Industry insiders generally believe that the consolidation of mineral resources, while greatly promoting the rational development and utilization of China’s resources, also represents an unstoppable and powerful force for the mining machinery industry. The widespread exploitation and utilization of mineral resources worldwide have significantly increased both the demand for these resources and the volume of mining operations, thereby strongly driving the rapid development of the mining machinery sector.
